Review of Ruth Crilly's Colab Sheer Invisible Dry Shampoo
Colab Sheer Invisible Paris Floral Fragrance Dry Shampoo - £3.49

After my last experience with YouTuber products you would think that I had low expectations for this. But Ruth doesn't have THAT many subscribers compared to a lot of YouTubers, so I went with the assumption that a company doesn't have as much money to invest in Ruth, so they had to make a good product. Unlike other YouTubers she doesn't have legions of fangirls that will buy her products even if it's rubbish, so I thought a lot of effort will have gone in to making a product that Ruth is proud of and isn't just interested in a quick buck.

I'm already on to my second can - which should give you a bit of a hint that I love it - and both times I've bought the Paris scent. It's a slightly floral and girly scent, but at the same time reminds me of a mens aftershave, so it's got a romantic scent to it you could say. I love it, it's fresh and makes the hair smell amazing! I'm interested to try the other scents though because I don't think I've seen anyone yet say this is their favourite.

It terms of price point it's the same price as your standard dry shampoo, Batiste is £2.99 for a 200ml can and this is £3.49 for a 200ml can. This also comes in a smaller version of 50ml for £1.99, but for me personally it's better value for money just buying the big can. I was surprised at the price because from looking at the can and knowing the products that Ruth uses I expected it to be slightly higher end. I think the branding and design make it look like a more high end product, with a sleek and sophisticated design but pops of colour for each scent.

The scent and the price aren't what made me repurchase it though, it was the product itself that is amazing. It leaves no residue or chalky feeling to the hair like Batiste does and there are no grey casts to be seen. It leaves the hair feeling silky, clean and fresh! With Batiste I find I have to work it in to the hair and really brush it in, but with this I find it does the job itself. I've even found sometimes when I use this my hair look cleaner and fresher on second day hair than it did when it was freshly washed.  My only problem is that it doesn't have the strength of Batiste if you're using it on older hair. I find that if I wash my hair on a Monday morning this will work amazing on Tuesday but I'm pushing it by Wednesday. I tend to have a bath and wash my hair every day, so this isn't too big of a problem for me, but if you're someone who leaves it a few days between washes, it's something to bear it mind.

The product does add a bit of volume but I'm really keen to try the new version that they have brought out that is made specifically to add extra volume. It's a bit more expensive but I'm willing to try it if it works.

Overall I love this product and is something I think Ruth can be proud of creating. It isn't cheaply packaged or made for a young audience to sell, but is made to have some longevity in the drugstore. Real Techniques have become a brand loved by so many and it's sometimes easy to forget that the brand was started by two people on YouTube and I think the same effect will happen with Ruth. The product will speak for itself and won't need a name attached to sell it!

Have you tried Colab and what's your favourite scent?

  2. I completely agree with all of this! I have the orange one (I'm not too lazy to get up and look.... New York, I think?) and I love it! It's a really neutral scent that I don't think would offend anyone, and it's quickly replaced Batiste as my new love. I sometimes feel like Batiste is a bit more effective when I'm super oily but that may just be because it makes me roots look lighter because of the grey!

  4. I am also using this dry shampoo. It’s really a great product for every women. But you must use keratin complex shampoo at times too. It helps in maintaining shine and smoothness of the hair and increase longevity of your hair!
